Hard to Enjoy

Timeshare companies claim a lot of things. They claim that they make financial sense, that they’re cheaper than regular vacations, that they’re easy to get in to and easy to get out of, that you’ll enjoy your time with them. At Direct Transfers we’ve seen too many opposite stories to believe that’s true.

One of the major things timeshare companies claim is that it’s easy to book your vacation at your timeshare resort. And, theoretically, it should be. In the structure of a timeshare, if everything is managed correctly, it ought to be relatively easy to find the week you want and book it a few months in advance.

The truth is, though, that countless consumers are essentially locked out of their timeshares by bad management. Timeshare resorts, in an urge to get more revenue from maintenance fees and special assessments, sign up too many customers for one resort. The result is that even booking months in advance sometimes isn’t enough to get you in.

Even more frustrating for owners is the fact that even when you can’t get into your timeshare, you have to pay the same amount as those who can. Unlike other services, where satisfaction is guaranteed or at least loosely considered, timeshares companies give absolutely no concern to customer satisfaction. In their eyes, customers are already locked into the contract, so why bother?

Everyone knows that sudden life circumstances can cancel a vacation. From illness to job changes, everyone has experienced at least one change of plans over the course of their life. Timeshares, however, don’t allow for these changes; most timeshare companies are so booked out that by the time you need to change your vacation dates, they’re filled for months.

If timeshares are impractically priced, badly managed, and hard to get into even when you’ve paid for the luxury of being able to stay there – why are we still using them?

While we at Direct Transfers know the value of a good vacation, we also know the absolute lack of value in a timeshare vacation.
